What’s on today’s slab…
Today’s flick… JAWS
One of my favorite top 3 movies of all time. I still think twice when I go in the ocean because of this movie. What makes this film such a masterpiece and timeless is that it plays on a big fear for a lot of people. the unknown of the ocean. What is swimming below and around us that we can’t see? Oh look a 25 foot shark that can swallow you whole! A great cast, directed by the master Steven Spielberg, and it comes with one of the best and scariest soundtracks ever by the John Williams. There are so many reasons this film has stood the test of time and was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.
My favorite scene: The camera zooms in on Chief Brody on the beach after he sees a shark attack.
Amity 6: I still miss the Jaws ride. I hope you all were able to experience it and survive.
Note from Chris: I’ll be damned, but this movie still holds up as one of the scariest movies of all time, over almost all the popular standard horror movies. Also, the Jaws ride was great, but after becoming an employee there, I was disappointed with the majority of the attraction’s elitist attitude towards everyone else. Obviously they weren’t all like this, but too many of them were. Fortunately, we got to be part of the Harry Potter opening team, which totally didn’t have that attitude at all. Right? Right????? Sigh…
Today’s episode… It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
A Halloween classic, how could I not of written about this one. The gang celebrates Halloween, Linus goes in search of the Great Pumpkin, and Charlie Brown gets invited… wait for it… to… a Halloween party! Check out this classic story that’s just so much fun all around.
Note from Charlie Brown: I got a rock…
Shake it: Chris can we get a clip of Snoopy doing the Snoopy dance?… Enjoy!
This is the Snoopy dance from the Great Pumpkin special. If you’re looking for the traditional Snoopy dance, it doesn’t happen in this special, but you can view it here:
I do enjoy the overly dramatic pantomiming from the Great Pumpkin special myself. And also, this is my #1 favorite Halloween-ANYTHING of all time, and it’s not hard to see why.
Today’s jam… Maxwell’s Silver Hammer by The Beatles
A song by The Beatles. A song by The Beatles about a murderer with a hammer that comes down upon your head. The song isn’t dark in the sense of how it sounds, actually it’s a really fun song, but then you remember the lyrics.
Sgt. Martin: Steve Martin played Maxwell in the film Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. It’s still a bad movie, but fun fact. He did a better job in Little Shop of Horrors.
Jaws, Charlie Brown, and The Beatles?! How will Mark top himself with this epic lineup?! I guess you’ll have to tune in tomorrow for THE FINAL CHAPTER…
